Director, Project & Portfolio Management

About the role

We are seeking an interim Director of Project & Portfolio Management to support a leading media organisation in London during a critical transformation period. Reporting to the VP of Portfolio Management, you will help standardise processes, define a new operating model and drive governance across digital, product and technology portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Translate strategic priorities into clear delivery plans, milestones and actionable steps.
• Act as the primary link between technology, product, business, governance and programme delivery teams.
• Maintain momentum on major initiatives by ensuring focus, pace and visibility across delivery activities.
• Lead change management to embed the new operating model across portfolios and projects.
• Identify and mitigate risks, blockers and coordination gaps early.
• Facilitate the flow of work across multiple teams, removing obstacles and sustaining progress.
• Produce concise progress updates for senior stakeholders.
• Represent the VP in key meetings and governance forums as required.
• Bridge governance, project and programme delivery leadership across product and technology functions.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑leadership experience in complex, matrix‑based organisations.
• Proven track record in enterprise‑level project portfolio management and governance across digital, product, tech and engineering teams.
• Demonstrated change and transformation leadership using Waterfall, Agile or hybrid frameworks.
• Strong commercial acumen, financial planning and portfolio decision‑making experience.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with exposure to C‑suite audiences.
• Background in media, publishing or e‑commerce environments is desirable.
