Disabled Facilities Grant Officer

About the role

The Disabled Facilities Grant Officer will manage the full lifecycle of Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) and Minor Adaptation applications, ensuring adaptations are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with legislation. Working closely with Occupational Therapists, residents, contractors and internal teams, you will oversee property inspections, specifications and grant eligibility assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and process DFG and Minor Adaptation Grant applications.
• Interpret Occupational Therapist recommendations and translate them into practical specifications.
• Survey residential properties, produce drawings, schedules of work and specifications.
• Monitor adaptation works to ensure quality, compliance and timely completion.
• Carry out financial means‑test assessments for grant eligibility.
• Assess housing conditions and manage property licence applications where required.
• Liaise with residents, contractors, architects and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records and deliver excellent customer service throughout the grant process.

Required profile

• Proven experience administering Disabled Facilities Grants.
• Experience interpreting Occupational Therapist recommendations.
• Knowledge of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act.
• Background in surveying residential properties and preparing specifications, drawings and schedules of work.
• Ability to conduct financial means‑test assessments.
