Distribution Manager

About the role

You will lead a large warehouse team in a modern distribution environment, ensuring high standards of quality, turnaround times and safety. This senior leadership position is focused on driving performance through people, culture and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop frontline supervisors and operational teams.
• Drive a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Set clear performance expectations and manage KPIs across all areas.
• Monitor operational performance, productivity, quality and service levels, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Coach and mentor managers, supervisors and team members to improve capability.
• Identify skills gaps and implement effective training and development plans.
• Handle employee relations matters, including attendance, performance management and disciplinary processes.
• Promote employee engagement and motivate individuals to reach their full potential.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency and quality.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, operational and company policies.
• Maintain a hands‑on presence in the operation and lead by example.
• Act as senior operational lead in the absence of the senior manager.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an operational leader in a distribution or warehouse setting.
• Strong people‑leadership skills with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
• Ability to set and manage performance targets and KPIs.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
• Experience handling employee relations, performance management and disciplinary processes.
• Commitment to health & safety standards and continuous improvement.
