District Heating Solution Design Manager

About the role

Veolia is seeking a District Heating Solution Design Manager to lead the development of district heating network (DHN) projects from concept through to conversion. You will shape the technical strategy for low‑carbon heating and cooling solutions, aligning projects with the company’s growth objectives and sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Drive DHN opportunity development from concept to conversion, defining technical strategy for new business growth.
• Develop winning technical proposals and bid strategies, collaborating with pre‑construction teams on cost models and risk assessments.
• Design innovative low‑carbon district heating and cooling networks compliant with standards, regulations, and best practice.
• Create standardized design methods, procedures, and documentation to improve delivery efficiency.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, integrating mechanical, electrical, process, and civil engineering components.
• Act as Technical Lead on client presentations, delivering compelling solutions to complex challenges.
• Prepare tender packages, manage approvals, and make critical decisions on project viability.
• Build strategic supplier partnerships, challenge costs and timelines, and manage project risks with robust escalation processes.
• Champion innovation and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence across the DHN team.

Required profile

• Degree level education in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading district heating or similar energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of low‑carbon heating and cooling network design.
• Ability to develop technical proposals, cost models, and risk assessments.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholder relationships.
