About the role
Gregory Distribution Ltd is seeking a Divisional Director to lead a major operational portfolio across England and Wales. The role carries responsibility for roughly £50 million of turnover and will shape the company’s growth, profitability and strategic direction during a period of expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Drive sustainable, scalable growth aligned with the long‑term business strategy while preserving company culture and values.
- Develop and execute business plans for expansion into existing and emerging markets, focusing on profitability and customer value.
- Lead a workforce of 300‑400 professionals, fostering engagement and high performance.
- Deliver commercially viable logistics solutions that strengthen client relationships and financial results.
- Hold full P&L accountability, managing cost control, revenue growth and disciplined execution.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through strategic client and partner engagement.
- Influence board‑level stakeholders and contribute to overall strategic direction.
- Collaborate with Group Support Functions to drive operational excellence and transformation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate governance frameworks.
- Use data‑driven insights to improve performance and efficiency.
- Partner with Finance to manage budgets, forecasts and embed financial discipline.
- Lead commercial negotiations, including customer rate reviews.
- Develop talent and succession frameworks to support workforce capability and leadership growth.
- Oversee employee and industrial relations and promote a strong health‑and‑safety culture.
Required profile
- Significant senior leadership experience within transport, logistics or related sectors.
- Proven track record of managing large P&L responsibilities (≈£50 million turnover).
- Experience leading teams of 300‑400 staff and driving high‑performance cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute growth strategies and business plans.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in negotiating contracts and rate reviews.
- Ability to influence board‑level stakeholders and contribute to strategic decision‑making.
- Knowledge of compliance, governance, risk management and health‑and‑safety standards.
