Doctor – Onboard Medical Officer for Cruise Ship

About the role

Being a Doctor on board a P&O Cruises or Cunard ship offers a unique medical career at sea. You will work in a fully equipped medical centre serving a floating community, handling a wide range of cases from minor ailments to critical emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary medical care to passengers and crew, including treatment of sunburn, seasickness and minor injuries.
• Manage acute and complex emergencies such as cardiac arrests, using A&E or Critical Care expertise.
• Perform airway management, intubation, conscious sedation and fracture/dislocation care.
• Lead the cardiac arrest response team and coordinate emergency care on board.
• Collaborate with a close‑knit clinical team while maintaining autonomy of remote medicine.

Required profile

• Minimum four years post‑qualification experience.
• Current medical registration in the UK, Australia, EU, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa (with DipPec), USA or Canada.
• At least six months recent experience in Accident & Emergency or Critical Care.

Required skills

• Airway management including intubation and conscious sedation.
• Cardiac case management and leading cardiac arrest teams.
• Management of common fractures and dislocations.
