Document Control Lead

About the role

This position is for a Document Control Lead within an Oil & Gas company based in Barrow‑in‑Furness. The role provides leadership for Information Management (IM) and Business Management Systems (BMS) to ensure best‑practice execution across the business and to safeguard asset integrity and process safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction and assurance for compliance with statutory legislation related to Information Management.
• Maintain and update the BMS performance management process and system.
• Control and assure all documents, drawings, and registers, confirming they meet company quality requirements before filing.
• Manage outsourced support where appropriate.
• Deliver training and coaching to users to ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
• Implement distribution processes for internal and external documentation and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders.
• Support the business in handling large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Generate document control reports, track drawings and documents, and perform regular assurance activities.
• Allocate and control the document numbering system for asset and functional teams.

Required profile

• Strong appreciation for strategy, processes, enabling technologies and governance.
• Ability to process high volumes of documents consistently.
• Analytical capability to drive IM/BMS performance management.
• Competent user of various Electronic Document and Record Management systems.
• Demonstrated competence in document, data and information management for operated assets and capital projects.
