Document Processing Operator

About the role

The Document Processing Operator role is a 1‑year fixed‑term position within the Scanning Services department of Public Services Delivery Scotland. Based at Gyle Square, Edinburgh, you will join a team that processes all NHS prescriptions dispensed in Scotland, ensuring accurate and timely payments to pharmacists and doctors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform sorting duties including opening, batch preparation and clearing of prescription documents.
• Sort prescriptions to scanner‑ready standards and prepare batches for processing.
• Operate scanning equipment to capture high‑quality images of prescriptions.
• Rescan documents when image quality does not meet required standards.
• Support the accurate flow of information to processing sites to facilitate contractor payments.

Required profile

• Resident of the United Kingdom and able to remain in the UK for the duration of the contract.
• Available to work full‑time, Monday to Friday (36 hours per week).
• Ability to handle physical sorting and scanning tasks in an office environment.
