Domestic Assistant – Facilities

About the role

The Domestic Assistant – Facilities will deliver a high‑quality domestic service within the Vale Centre for Health and Care, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Working part‑time on a fixed schedule, you will follow NHS Scotland cleaning specifications and infection control guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Clean clinical and non‑clinical areas, including wet mopping, vacuuming, emptying bins and replenishing supplies.
• Maintain toilets, bathrooms, fixtures and furniture to a high standard.
• Use cleaning agents safely and economically, adhering to manufacturers' instructions.
• Operate mechanical cleaning equipment where required.
• Wear supplied personal protective equipment and complete daily/weekly sign‑off sheets for assigned zones.

Required profile

• Knowledge of safe and effective cleaning practices.
• Understanding of the economical use of cleaning chemicals.
• Awareness of health‑and‑safety requirements and proper PPE usage.
• Ability to follow work schedules, procedures and maintain accurate cleaning records.
• Willingness to undertake training on mechanical cleaning equipment.

Required skills

• Safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
