Domestic Assistant – Part‑time Hospital Support

About the role

The Domestic Assistant provides essential cleaning and housekeeping services across clinical and non‑clinical areas of hospitals and health centres. This part‑time, back‑shift position supports a safe, hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning, waste disposal and linen handling in designated departments.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards, Health & Safety legislation and infection‑control protocols.
• Follow Audit Scotland and HAI task‑force requirements, as well as the National Cleaning Services Specification.
• Report any hazards, equipment faults or breaches of standards to senior staff.
• Assist with occasional deep‑cleaning projects and stock management of cleaning supplies.

Required profile

• Reliability to work scheduled evening shifts (Mon‑Thu 16:30‑19:30, Fri 16:30‑19:18).
• Ability to work in both clinical and non‑clinical environments.
• Commitment to health, safety and infection‑control best practices.
• Good communication skills and teamwork orientation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures and use of cleaning equipment.
• Understanding of infection‑control standards and health‑safety regulations.
• Ability to follow written protocols and checklists accurately.
