Domestic Porter

About the role

The General Service Department at Galashiels Health Centre is seeking Domestic Assistants/Porters to support our clinics and departments. Working Monday to Friday, you will provide essential cleaning and support services to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform domestic cleaning tasks across the health centre, including patient areas, offices, and communal spaces.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection control in line with NHS guidelines.
• Adapt to varying shift patterns, with two 12.5‑hour posts covering the 11:30‑14:00 window and additional hours as needed.
• Collaborate with the wider team to support smooth operation of clinical services.

Required profile

• Demonstrated competence in domestic cleaning activities.
• Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to changing service needs.
• Understanding of the NHS Borders Behavioural Framework.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to undergo required background checks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of standard cleaning equipment and supplies.
