Drainage and Water Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Drainage and Water Engineer to join our design team, delivering sustainable drainage and water solutions across a range of projects. The role can be based in Exeter, Ipswich or Salford with remote working and occasional travel to the office.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver assigned design tasks to a high standard, taking ownership of technical outputs.
• Apply relevant design standards, regulations and quality processes consistently.
• Manage delivery of individual tasks within programme and budget, escalating issues and proposing solutions.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Support the design lead on work packages and contribute to design coordination.
• Share knowledge and provide guidance to early‑career engineers.

Required profile

• Demonstrable competence in drainage and water engineering across one or more sectors.
• Ability to work autonomously on tasks while supporting wider package delivery.
• Experience applying design standards, regulations and quality processes.
• Awareness of programme, budget and risk considerations, with appropriate escalation.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
