About the role
The large and successful SEN school in Lewisham is seeking a Drama Teaching Assistant to start in October 2026. You will work five days a week with pupils aged 5 to 11 who have complex needs, including moderate and severe learning disabilities. The role combines support for special‑needs students with a passion for drama and acting, helping to deliver a highly personalised, creative curriculum that amplifies pupil voice.
Key responsibilities
- Assist within the drama classroom, preparing materials and supporting lesson delivery.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create a safe, nurturing environment for all students.
- Support communication needs and promote positive behaviour throughout drama activities.
- Provide physical and emotional support to pupils as required.
Required profile
- Experience supporting young people with special needs (ASC, MLD, SLD) in a school or similar setting.
- Previous work as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant, or in child‑related roles.
- Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach with a caring, professional manner.
- Willingness to assist with personal care of pupils when needed.
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
