Drinking Water Sampler

About the role

South West Water is seeking a Drinking Water Sampler to carry out sampling and on‑site water quality analysis across its operational assets and customer premises. The role supports public health protection by providing accurate monitoring data and assisting with investigations and customer enquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Collect drinking water samples from source to customer tap in line with regulatory and operational requirements.
• Perform on‑site testing of water quality parameters and ensure proper handling, storage, and transport of samples.
• Maintain accurate records of sampling activities, results, and any anomalies.
• Support compliance with drinking water regulations and company quality standards, escalating breaches promptly.
• Attend customer premises to investigate water quality issues and help resolve enquiries or complaints.
• Provide field support to Water Quality Scientists and report any asset defects or concerns observed during site visits.
• Assist in monitoring during operational incidents, emergencies, and continuous improvement of water‑quality processes.
• Adhere to health, safety, security and environmental policies, ensuring equipment is calibrated and used correctly.

• Strong attention to detail for accurate sample handling and record‑keeping.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
• Willingness to work safely in varied outdoor environments and weather conditions.
