Driver & Dispatch Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Driver & Dispatch Assistant to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business in Stevenage. This hands‑on position combines warehouse, dispatch and delivery duties in a fast‑paced environment, ensuring products reach customers and suppliers accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and package products for dispatch according to customer specifications and delivery schedules.
• Label, pack and select the most appropriate courier or transport method for each shipment.
• Generate delivery notes and dispatch documentation using internal computer systems.
• Book courier collections, maintain related paperwork and records.
• Coordinate movement of finished goods between production, shop floor and dispatch areas.
• Maintain the finished‑goods store, ensuring stock is organised and accurate.
• Support stock checks and inventory activities as required.
• Carry out customer and supplier deliveries and collections using company vehicles.
• Record vehicle mileage, fuel usage and delivery details accurately.
• Adhere to company quality, environmental and health & safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in dispatch, warehouse, stores, logistics or goods‑out environments.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication with production, operations and administration teams.

Required skills

• Computer skills for producing delivery notes and dispatch documentation.
• Experience with ERP, stock control or warehouse management systems.
