Driver – Passenger Transport

About the role

We are seeking professional drivers to operate passenger transport vehicles in Taunton, ensuring safe, comfortable journeys for all passengers, including those with mobility needs.

Key responsibilities

• Drive assigned passenger transport vehicles along prescribed routes, adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.
• Assist passengers on and off the vehicle safely, including the operation of rear lift equipment and wheelchair restraints.
• Conduct daily and weekly vehicle inspections, perform routine maintenance checks, and keep the vehicle clean and tidy.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle checks and report any issues promptly.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and promote the welfare of passengers with disabilities.

Required profile

• Valid Class D1 driving licence (PCV qualification preferred).
• Good interpersonal skills, reliability, and punctuality.
• Calm, patient, diplomatic and safety‑conscious.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, Monday to Saturday.
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting people with disabilities.

Required skills

• Operation of vehicle‑based health and safety equipment (e.g., wheelchair restraints, rear lifts).
• Strong awareness of safety procedures and passenger securing protocols.
