DT Technician – Secondary School (Lancaster)

About the role

Reed Education, in partnership with Lancashire County Council, is seeking a Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support secondary school lessons in the Lancaster area. You will work directly with teaching staff and students to ensure all DT equipment is ready, safe, and well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and check DT equipment before lessons.
• Store and organise equipment after use, maintaining accurate stock records.
• Support teachers and pupils during practical sessions.
• Repair, maintain and modify a variety of DT tools and apparatus.
• Ensure health and safety standards are met in the workshop.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar DT technician role.
• Recent experience working in a school or comparable educational setting.
• Hardworking, flexible and able to take initiative.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and ability to build positive relationships with children and adults.
• Available for part‑time or full‑time work and able to travel locally.

• Health & safety compliance in a workshop environment.
