DT Technician – Secondary School (Preston)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support secondary school lessons in Preston. Working with Lancashire County Council’s teaching agency, you will ensure equipment is ready, safe and well‑maintained for students and teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and check DT equipment before lessons and store it afterwards.
• Support teaching staff and students during practical sessions.
• Organise, store and monitor stock of tools and materials.
• Repair, maintain and modify equipment as needed.
• Ensure health and safety standards are met and the learning environment remains clean.

Required profile

• Recent experience working in a school or similar educational setting.
• Previous experience in a DT technician or comparable role.
• Hard‑working, flexible and able to use initiative.
• Ability to build good relationships with children and adults.
• Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to undergo a DBS check.
