Duty Manager – Convenience Retail (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands‑on Duty Manager to run the day‑to‑day operations of a busy high‑street convenience store. The role involves overseeing a diverse product range, delivering excellent customer service and developing a motivated team in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of daily store operations, including opening and closing as a key holder.
• Manage stock replenishment, rotation and waste for ambient, fresh and frozen items.
• Prepare and cook hot food, operate tills and handle cash securely.
• Receive and process deliveries, conduct date checks and manage stock reductions.
• Maintain store cleanliness, housekeeping and visual merchandising standards.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and food‑safety regulations.
• Lead, motivate and develop store colleagues, create rotas and cover shifts.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and handle employee relations fairly.

Required profile

• Previous retail management or supervisory experience, preferably in convenience, food retail or FMCG.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast‑moving environment.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with a focus on customer satisfaction.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.

• Competitive salary £28,000‑£32,000 per year.
• Full‑time 40‑hour week with weekends and public holidays.
