EAL Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated EAL Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Hillingdon. The role starts in September 2026 and offers full‑time, temporary support for students who speak English as an Additional Language across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group language interventions for EAL learners.
• Assist students with reading, writing, speaking and listening activities across the curriculum.
• Adapt resources and clarify language to help learners access subject content.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN and EAL teams to deliver targeted support strategies.
• Monitor progress, give feedback to teaching staff and contribute to pastoral wellbeing where needed.
• Support the integration of newly arrived pupils into school life.

Required profile

• A degree or relevant experience working with young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Interest in language acquisition and EAL support.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Patient, proactive and inclusive attitude.
