About the role

This full‑time, temporary position supports young people in a welcoming secondary school in Barnet. You will work closely with teachers, SEN and EAL teams to help learners who speak English as an Additional Language overcome language barriers and thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group language support across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Assist students with reading, writing, speaking and listening activities.
Adapt resources and clarify language to ensure curriculum access.
Collaborate with teachers to deliver targeted language strategies.
Monitor progress and give feedback to teaching and inclusion staff.
Support pastoral care and wellbeing where appropriate.
Help newly arrived students integrate into school life.

Required profile

Degree or relevant experience working with young people.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Interest in language acquisition and EAL support.
Ability to build positive relationships with diverse learners.
Patient, proactive and encouraging attitude.
