EAL Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (West London)

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated EAL Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in West London from September. The role focuses on supporting students who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL) across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small‑group interventions to improve speaking, listening, reading and writing.
- Collaborate with class teachers to adapt learning materials and remove language barriers.
- Monitor student progress, record outcomes and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Encourage independence, participation and confidence in classroom activities.
- Contribute to an inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting EAL learners in a secondary school or similar educational setting.
- Relevant ESOL, TEFL, CELTA or equivalent qualification (desirable but not mandatory).
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, adaptability and a genuine passion for helping diverse learners.
- Residence in or ability to travel to West London.
Required skills
- Proficiency in English language instruction.
- Ability to design and deliver tailored language activities.
- Effective record‑keeping and progress‑tracking.
