Early Career Teacher – SEN Settings

About the role
We are seeking a passionate Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join a network of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools and specialist provisions across East Lancashire. This role offers the chance to develop your teaching practice while supporting children with diverse learning needs such as autism, severe learning difficulties, and social‑emotional challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, adapt and deliver engaging lessons for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and independence.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and SEN support assistants.
- Monitor student progress, set individual learning targets and record development to meet ECT induction standards.
- Apply positive behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies to support wellbeing.
Required profile
- Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on track to graduate as an Early Career Teacher.
- Demonstrate genuine commitment to special education and inclusion.
- Show resilience, adaptability and a proactive attitude toward professional growth.
- Possess an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
