Early Career Teacher – Special Educational Needs (SEN)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join specialist SEN settings across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast. This full‑time position offers the chance to work with children and young people who have diverse learning needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties and social‑emotional challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, adapt and deliver engaging lessons for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and independence.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and SEN support assistants.
• Monitor student progress, set individual learning targets and record outcomes to meet ECT induction standards.
• Apply positive behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques to support wellbeing.

Required profile

• Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on track to graduate as an Early Career Teacher.
• Demonstrated commitment to special education and inclusion.
• Strong emotional resilience and adaptability.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
