Early Career Teacher - Special Educational Needs (SEN) Preston

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join specialist SEN settings in Preston. This role offers the chance to support children and young people with diverse learning needs in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, adapt and deliver engaging lessons for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom that promotes positive behaviour and independence.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and SEN support assistants.
• Monitor student progress, set individual learning targets and track development to meet ECT induction standards.
• Apply positive behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies to support wellbeing.

Required profile

• Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be on track to graduate as an Early Career Teacher.
• Demonstrate genuine commitment to special education and inclusion.
• Show resilience, adaptability and a proactive attitude toward professional growth.
• Possess an enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
