About the role
The Early Help Autism Worker will deliver short‑term, home‑based autism programmes for children and families in Birmingham. Working under supervision, you will help families understand autism diagnoses and develop practical strategies to improve daily life.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and group autism parenting programmes in family homes.
- Deliver the Cygnet autism parenting programme to parents individually and in group settings.
- Support children undergoing autism assessment with tailored interventions.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and siblings to enhance family functioning.
- Undertake specialist training when requested.
Required profile
- In‑depth knowledge of autism and experience working with children and young people on the spectrum.
- Experience delivering PECS or Makaton to families, preferably with school guidance.
- Proven ability to work with parents either one‑to‑one or in group programmes.
- Willingness to deliver the Cygnet programme and to undertake further specialist training.
