About the role
Join a close‑knit village school on the outskirts of Chester as a part‑time Teaching Assistant supporting Early Years (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 pupils. Working alongside the class teacher, you will help create a safe, stimulating environment where young learners develop confidence, curiosity and resilience.
Key responsibilities
- Support high‑quality learning through planned indoor and outdoor activities.
- Promote language development with rich, purposeful conversations.
- Assist with systematic synthetic phonics, early maths and small‑group or 1‑to‑1 interventions.
- Adapt support for children with speech, language, communication needs (SLCN) and SEND.
- Observe and record progress to inform next steps and provide class cover when required.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of the EYFS Framework, Development Matters and the Characteristics of Effective Learning.
- Confidence in supporting phonics and early language development.
- High expectations for every child and a commitment to inclusive practice.
- Collaborative attitude and proactive approach to working with families and staff.
