Early Years Higher Level Teaching Assistant

About the role
Clockwork Education is supporting a welcoming school in County Durham to recruit an Early Years Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will join the 2‑year classroom in September 2026, working full‑time (8:30 am‑3:30 pm, Monday‑Friday) to support small groups and individual children.
Key responsibilities
- Work within the Early Years (2‑year) setting, delivering targeted activities for small groups and one‑to‑one sessions.
- Provide PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) cover for all year groups during afternoons.
- Record evidence of children meeting developmental targets.
- Use initiative to adapt plans and respond to children’s needs.
- Assist with feeding and personal care as required.
Required profile
- Relevant EYFS Level 3 qualification.
- Two educational‑based references.
- Confident experience working with small groups of young children.
- Strong numeracy and literacy knowledge.
- Effective behaviour management skills.
Required skills
- EYFS Level 3 teaching qualification.
