Early Years Practitioner – Full‑time Temporary Role in Cheltenham

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Early Years Practitioner to provide high‑quality cover for nursery settings in Cheltenham. The position is term‑time only, temporary, and runs from as soon as possible until the end of the academic year. You will work on‑site within the nursery environment, collaborating with teaching staff to ensure a safe and stimulating setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, age‑appropriate learning activities for early years pupils.
• Support children’s development and foster positive behaviour.
• Plan and deliver lessons that meet the Early Years Foundation Stage standards.
• Monitor and assess children’s progress and provide feedback.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents and staff.

Required profile

• Recent experience (within the last 5 years) working with children.
• Level 2 or 3 qualification, or QTS/EYPS qualification (essential).
• Early Years experience is desirable.
• Patient, resilient and relationship‑focused.
• Commitment to high‑quality learning outcomes.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
• Effective communication with children and adults.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour.
