Early Years Teaching Assistant – Full‑time & Long‑term (St Albans)

About the role

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in St Albans. This full‑time, long‑term position offers the chance to support young children during the most important stages of their development, fostering confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, play‑based Early Years activities.
• Work with children individually and in small groups to support learning and development.
• Promote social, emotional, language and physical development through play.
• Create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support daily routines, encouraging independence.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Help run the after‑school club on selected days.

Required profile

• Experience with young children in an Early Years, nursery or primary setting (desirable).
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability, professionalism and a genuine passion for child development.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
