Early Years Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a nurturing and energetic Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children in a mainstream primary setting. You will help create a safe, stimulating environment where young learners can thrive through play and discovery during term‑time hours.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate play‑based activities that develop communication, language and physical skills.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help children meet EYFS goals, including those with additional needs.
• Assist the lead teacher with classroom management, both indoors and outdoors.
• Observe and record pupils’ progress, sharing insights with teachers and parents.
• Promote social and emotional wellbeing, encouraging confidence and positive peer interaction.
• Support personal care, snack times and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience in a UK school or EYFS setting (nursery or reception preferred).
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Good written and verbal English with strong interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for early years education and commitment to a full‑time, long‑term role.
• Professional references from recent employers.
