EBSA Support Worker – Emotionally Based School Avoidance

About the role

We are seeking compassionate professionals to join a network of secondary schools in Preston and Blackpool as EBSA Support Workers. You will help vulnerable pupils overcome anxiety‑driven school avoidance and safely re‑engage with education.

Key responsibilities

• Work one‑to‑one with pupils in nurture hubs or inclusion units to create safe, supportive environments.
• Develop and implement step‑by‑step re‑integration plans for children experiencing school refusal.
• Deliver emotional regulation, resilience and anxiety‑management interventions.
• Act as the liaison between pupils, families, SENDCOs and external mental‑health services.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in pastoral, youth work or SEN settings.
• Understanding of psychological and sociological factors affecting children’s behaviour.
• Willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Preferred qualifications: Level 3 TA, Youth Work, Psychology or Mental Health degree equivalents.

• Competitive daily rate of £110‑£145 paid weekly via PAYE.
• Full‑time term‑time contract (September 2026 start).
• Monday‑Friday schedule, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm onsite.
