Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) – Temporary

About the role

Join a well‑established contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK. As an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) you will provide on‑site ecological support, ensuring construction activities comply with legislation, licences and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out ecological site inspections and deliver toolbox talks.
• Monitor construction work to verify compliance with ecological constraints.
• Advise site teams on protected species, habitats and required mitigation measures.
• Provide ecological supervision during sensitive works and record observations.
• Produce concise site reports and work closely with environmental managers, contractors and stakeholders to resolve issues.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Ecological Clerk of Works.
• Valid CSCS card and Highways Passport.
• Safety‑critical medical clearance.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
• Membership of CIEEM and protected‑species survey licences are desirable but not essential.
