Ecologist – Consultancy Services

About the role

The Ecologist will provide consultancy services to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring ecological constraints and opportunities are effectively managed across projects. You will combine field surveys with desk‑based analysis to support habitat and species assessments, ECoW requirements, impact studies, licensing, mitigation and Biodiversity Net Gain.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct habitat and species surveys on site and compile detailed reports.
• Support the preparation of Ecological Condition of Works (ECoW) documentation.
• Assist with impact assessments, licensing applications and mitigation planning.
• Deliver Biodiversity Net Gain calculations and recommendations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into project designs.
• Provide both field‑based data collection and desk‑based data analysis for a variety of contracts.

Required profile

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Experience in conducting ecological surveys and producing technical reports.
• Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively in an office setting.
• Strong understanding of UK ecological legislation and Biodiversity Net Gain frameworks.
