About the role
An established ecological consultancy in Essex is looking for a motivated Ecologist to join its friendly and experienced team. You will work on a varied portfolio of projects across residential development, infrastructure and land management while developing your technical skills in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Undertaking ecological surveys including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), habitat surveys, and protected species surveys
- Assisting with and contributing to Ecological Impact Assessments and a variety of technical reports
- Supporting biodiversity net gain assessments and habitat mapping
- Collecting, analysing, and interpreting ecological data
- Liaising with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders as required
- Ensuring work is completed in accordance with current wildlife legislation, planning policy, and industry best practice
Required profile
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Previous experience undertaking ecological surveys
- Knowledge of UK habitats, protected species, and relevant wildlife legislation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A full UK driving licence
