Ecologist – Environmental Consultancy (Cambridge)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Ecologist to join a respected independent environmental consultancy based in Cambridge. The role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, development and conservation projects across the UK, with a strong focus on collaboration, quality and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct protected species and habitat surveys on project sites.
• Prepare Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and ecological impact assessments.
• Collect field data and produce technical reports for clients.
• Work closely with senior ecologists to support project delivery and environmental outcomes.
• Travel regularly to project locations while maintaining a base in the Cambridge office.

Required profile

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in ecological consultancy or a similar role.
• Knowledge of UK habitats, protected species and relevant legislation.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
• Ability to live within a reasonable commuting distance of Cambridge.

• Strong field survey capability.
• Technical report writing proficiency.
