EDM Operator & Programmer – Precision Engineering

About the role

Our client, a well‑established precision engineering company, is seeking an experienced EDM Operator & Programmer to join their modern facility in Chippenham, Wiltshire. You will work on high‑precision components for demanding sectors, operating both sparking and wire EDM machines.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate EDM sparking and wire machines.
• Produce precision components to tight tolerances from engineering drawings.
• Carry out first‑off and in‑process inspections and record results.
• Set machine parameters to optimise performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain 5S standards, keeping machines and work areas clean and organised.
• Report progress and any problems to the Cell Lead.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an EDM Setter, Operator or Programmer.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including geometric tolerances.
• Experience machining stainless steel, duplex and nickel alloys.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
• Basic IT skills for data entry and record keeping.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
