About the role
The Education and Governance Lead 0-19 will shape and oversee the educational framework for the 0‑19 community public health nursing service at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. This strategic position ensures that all training programmes – from pre‑registration Specialist Community Public Health Nursing students to health visitors, school health staff and Family Nurse Practitioners – are evidence‑based, meet NICE and regulatory standards, and support the Healthy Child Programme.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and overall responsibility for the design and delivery of children‑and‑young‑people nursing education programmes.
- Ensure all training aligns with local and national standards and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a specialist practitioner and role model at local and national levels.
- Collaborate with senior public health nursing teams on changes to pre‑ and post‑registration curricula.
- Maintain a training needs analysis that reflects service requirements and national standards.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality, content, delivery and feedback of all educational activities.
- Participate in and co‑ordinate delivery of pre‑ and post‑registration education for the 0‑19 service.
- Develop innovative teaching approaches and clinical competency assessment documents.
- Prepare funding bids to enhance education programme delivery.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in nursing education and governance within a public health setting.
- Strong knowledge of NICE guidelines and other regulatory standards relevant to child health nursing.
- Ability to lead curriculum development and conduct training needs analyses.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and delivering education to a range of healthcare professionals.
