Education Subject Specialist – GCSE & A Level (EdTech)

About the role

We are partnering with an innovative EdTech organisation to bring on board experienced secondary‑school teachers as Subject Specialists for GCSE and A‑Level Maths, Chemistry or History. The role is freelance, based in Central London, and combines hands‑on classroom collaboration with occasional remote tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide candid, structured feedback on product prototypes and content.
• Deliver short coaching sessions to the product team on subject pedagogy, common misconceptions and exam techniques.
• Conduct live tutoring demonstrations for observation and learning.
• Review the live platform, flag strengths and issues, and produce deliverables such as model answers, feature reviews and topic breakdowns.
• Work to clear briefs and agreed deadlines, managing your own time for remote tasks.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with recent UK secondary or sixth‑form experience in the relevant subject.
• Current or recent senior teaching role (Head of Department, Lead Practitioner, Subject Lead, etc.).
• Strong passion for the subject and ability to communicate enthusiasm.
• Deep knowledge of pedagogy, student learning pathways and exam techniques.
• Familiarity with UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC) and experience writing exam questions or mark schemes.

Required skills

• Expert subject knowledge in Maths, Chemistry or History at GCSE/A‑Level.
• Understanding of UK curriculum and assessment standards.
• Ability to deliver clear, constructive feedback and coaching.
