EHS Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced EHS Manager to lead environmental, health and safety activities at our BASF chemical manufacturing site in Bradford. You will be part of the Site Leadership Team, ensuring compliance with legislation and driving continuous improvement in safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve a Responsible Care Management System covering all EHS disciplines.
• Manage permits, regulatory interactions and ensure all legal reporting deadlines are met.
• Prepare for and represent the site during internal and external audits, inspections and regulatory reviews.
• Provide professional advice on contractor management, risk assessments, work at height, confined space entry and waste management.
• Drive EHS performance through root‑cause analysis, sustainable improvements and deployment of best practices.
• Liaise with regulators, emergency services, local authorities and neighbouring sites, supporting emergency planning and exercises.
• Oversee site waste management, coordinating external service providers and ensuring compliance with classification, labeling, transport and disposal requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Chartered or working towards professional accreditation (e.g., IOSH, IEMA) with a recognised safety qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma.
• Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation, especially for chemical manufacturing and COMAH establishments.
