Electrical Design & Controls Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Electrical Design & Controls Engineer to join a fast‑growing automation leader. You will be responsible for designing control panels, producing electrical schematics with AutoCAD Electrical, and supporting the complete lifecycle of advanced automation systems—from concept and PLC programming to on‑site commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Create control system schematics, panel layouts, and wiring plans in AutoCAD Electrical to EU standards.
• Specify control components and program PLCs for industrial automation machinery.
• Assist with panel assembly, machine wiring, and electrical testing during the build phase.
• Integrate and commission new systems at client sites across the UK and overseas.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of industry experience in electrical design for industrial automation or control systems.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent eCAD software.
• Strong understanding of machinery safety standards and industrial communication protocols.
• Logical problem‑solving ability and effective team communication.
• Desirable: degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field; experience with PLC programming or robotics integration; clean UK driving licence.
