Electrical ICA Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical / ICA Engineer to join the Thames Water Major Projects team at our Maple Lodge site in Rickmansworth. The role combines LV electrical, control & automation, and PLC & SCADA expertise to support water treatment infrastructure projects across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide feedback on LV electrical and ICA documentation, including MCC/RTU schematics, control philosophies and SCADA architecture drawings.
• Represent the contractor at client meetings and conduct technical reviews of electrical and ICA installations and commissioning works on site.
• Perform fault finding, system configuration and commissioning of MCC and ICA equipment, PLCs and control panels.
• Attend Factory Acceptance Tests for MCC/RTU builds and SCADA/PLC control software to verify design compliance.
• Engage with the supply chain, propose innovative solutions and ensure health & safety, environmental and quality standards are met.

Required profile

• HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in ICA engineering, PLCs, HMIs, Profibus networks and SCADA installations on large‑scale water treatment works.
• Solid knowledge of low‑voltage motor control centres, ICA sections and communication protocols such as Profibus, Modbus and Ethernet IP.
• Experience managing contractors and overseeing installation activities.
