Electrical Inspector – Housing Compliance

About the role

The London Borough is looking for an experienced Electrical Inspector to lead electrical compliance and safety across its residential housing portfolio. You will work within the Housing Property Services team, ensuring statutory obligations are met while maintaining high safety standards for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Review Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and related certification documents.
• Carry out post‑inspection audits and quality checks on electrical works.
• Monitor contractor performance against KPIs and statutory requirements.
• Identify, report and escalate electrical safety risks and non‑compliant work.
• Ensure remedial actions are completed within required timescales.
• Support planning and delivery of both planned and reactive electrical programmes.
• Investigate technical issues, complaints and compliance concerns.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and produce performance reports.
• Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders and ensure adherence to current legislation and council policies.

Required profile

• Experience in social housing, local authority housing or comparable residential property environment.
• Strong knowledge of domestic electrical systems and inspection/testing requirements.
• Proven ability to review EICRs and electrical compliance certification.
• Experience in technical inspections and quality assurance.
• Understanding of contractor management and performance monitoring.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge.
• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
