Electrical Inspector – Housing Compliance (London)

About the role
You will join the Housing Property Services team of a London borough to lead electrical compliance across its residential housing portfolio. The position moves you from hands‑on work to a client‑side role focused on inspection, compliance and contractor management, ensuring safety and regulatory standards are met for residents.
Key responsibilities
- Review Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and related certification documentation.
- Conduct post‑inspection audits and quality checks on electrical works.
- Monitor contractor performance against KPIs and statutory requirements.
- Identify, escalate and manage electrical safety risks and non‑compliant work.
- Ensure remedial actions are completed within prescribed timescales.
- Support planning and delivery of both planned and reactive electrical programmes.
- Investigate technical issues, complaints and compliance concerns.
- Maintain accurate compliance records and produce performance reports.
- Provide technical advice to internal stakeholders and ensure adherence to legislation, regulations and council policies.
Required profile
- Experience in social housing, local authority housing or a comparable residential property environment.
- Strong knowledge of domestic electrical systems and inspection/testing requirements.
- Proven experience reviewing EICRs and electrical compliance certification.
- Background in technical inspections and quality assurance checks.
- Understanding of contractor management and performance monitoring.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification.
- Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
