Electrical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

FM Conway is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to support its Aggregate and Asphalt division. The role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of multiple asphalt plants across South East England through planned and reactive electrical maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections and reactive repairs on electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
• Diagnose faults and perform electrical installations, repairs and improvements to minimise plant downtime.
• Maintain compliance with electrical regulations, permit‑to‑work systems and lock‑off/tag‑out (LOTOTO) procedures.
• Keep electrical compliance records, documentation and maintenance schedules up to date.
• Support engineering projects including equipment installations, upgrades and commissioning.
• Collaborate with Plant Managers and Operators to improve plant reliability, performance and efficiency.
• Respond to out‑of‑hours breakdowns and travel between sites as required.
• Supervise contractors and mentor apprentices or colleagues.
• Complete maintenance records, risk assessments and report any faults, incidents or safety concerns.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification in an electrical discipline (e.g., City & Guilds 2330) and the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing, industrial or process‑plant environment with strong fault‑finding abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Mechanical maintenance experience, HV Authorised Person qualification and plant equipment certifications are advantageous.

Required skills

• Level 3 electrical qualification (City & Guilds 2330 or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations knowledge.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Control systems expertise.
• Interpretation of electrical drawings.
• Electrical compliance and safety procedures.
• HV Authorised Person competence (preferred).
• Mechanical maintenance skills (preferred).
