Electrical Maintenance Operative

About the role

Join our team as an Electrical Maintenance Operative, providing essential handyman and electrical services across multiple residential properties in Feltham. You will carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance to keep properties safe, functional and ready for new tenants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general handyman repairs and planned property maintenance.
• Paint and decorate walls, ceilings, doors, skirting boards and communal areas.
• Prepare void properties to a high standard for new tenants.
• Replace light fittings, lamps, LED units and ceiling pendants; carry out electrical safety checks before move‑ins.
• Replace damaged switches, sockets, fused spurs and electrical faceplates; test lights, switches, sockets and extractor fans.
• Install and replace smoke and carbon‑monoxide alarms where required.
• Isolate circuits safely and complete authorised minor electrical works, using socket and voltage testers for fault finding.
• Carry out basic carpentry repairs (doors, locks, shelving, architraves, skirting boards) and minor woodwork.
• Repair damaged walls, apply fillers and prepare surfaces for decoration.
• Perform basic plumbing tasks such as changing taps, toilet seats, shower heads, silicone sealing and unblocking sinks.
• Replace extractor fans in kitchens and bathrooms where authorised.
• Conduct routine inspections, record completed work and report outstanding defects.
• Drive between properties, transport tools and equipment, and maintain company vehicles in clean, serviceable condition.

Required profile

• Immediate start and a valid driving licence.
• Experience in handyman and electrical maintenance within residential properties.
• Ability to work safely following health‑and‑safety procedures and risk assessments.
• Strong customer‑service orientation when working in occupied and void properties.
• Willingness to collaborate with housing officers, contractors and residents.
