Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Join a long‑established animal feed manufacturer as an Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. You will keep a busy production plant running safely and efficiently, balancing preventative maintenance with rapid emergency fault‑finding across both electrical automation and mechanical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the existing team of staff and contractors.
• Diagnose complex electrical faults using schematics, testing meters and diagnostic tools.
• Troubleshoot PLC systems, sensors, control panels and variable speed drives.
• Remove, replace and calibrate motors, electrical assemblies, switchgear and safety protection devices.
• Maintain and repair machinery such as pellet mills, grinders, conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers and pneumatic systems.
• Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules to optimise plant uptime.
• Provide out‑of‑hours cover and call‑out support as required.

Required profile

• Authorized to work in the UK.
• Full‑time permanent role with ability to adapt to varying business needs.
• Comfortable working in a dusty, noisy environment and at heights.
• Qualified Electrical Maintenance Engineer with mechanical knowledge (Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer, 18th Edition BS761).

Required skills

• Electrical fault diagnosis and schematics interpretation.
• PLC troubleshooting and variable speed drive maintenance.
• Motor, switchgear and safety device upkeep.
• Mechanical repair of pellet mills, grinders, conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers and pneumatic systems.
• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) planning and execution.
• 18th Edition BS761 certification.
