Electrical Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician – Training Provided

About the role
Join Shorterm Group in partnership with Siemens Mobility as an Electrical Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician. You will receive a six‑month training programme on the Class 700 electric train fleet, preparing you to carry out comprehensive maintenance across a wide range of train systems.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance on passenger rolling stock.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults on underframe equipment, traction motors, power systems, pantographs, air‑conditioning and toilet systems.
- Carry out general fault finding and corrective maintenance on both mechanical and electrical components.
- Work 12‑hour rotating day and night shifts following a 5‑on/5‑off roster.
- Document maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Required profile
- NVQ Level 2 (or Level 3 for higher pay rate) or equivalent technical qualification.
- Background in light vehicle mechanics, heavy‑vehicle or plant maintenance, industrial maintenance, aviation engineering, armed forces technical trades, or similar.
- Willingness to work both day and night shifts, 40‑48 hours per week with overtime.
Required skills
- Knowledge of underframe equipment, traction motors and power systems.
- Experience with pantograph, air‑conditioning and toilet system maintenance.
- Ability to perform mechanical and electrical fault finding and corrective work.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
What we offer
- Structured training programme leading to a qualified Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician.
- Competitive hourly rates (£27.53‑£29.01 initially, rising to £28.45‑£29.98 after training).
- Contract of at least 6 months, expected 24‑36 months with potential permanent placement.
- Shift pattern with regular overtime opportunities and a start date of 14 September 2026.
