Electrical Service Engineer – Progression to Commissioning

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Service Engineer who wants to move into a commissioning position working with cutting‑edge test equipment for automotive power‑trains and engines. The role is based in Birmingham but involves travel across the UK and occasional overseas assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Service and commission test rigs for Tier 1 OEMs and Formula 1 clients.
• Travel to research centres, manufacturing sites and client locations in the UK, Europe, India or the Americas.
• Plan and execute jobs with at least one week’s notice, with no overtime required.
• Maintain detailed records of installations, calibrations and fault‑finding activities.

Required profile

• Current Service Engineer or similar role looking to progress to commissioning.
• Strong electrical bias with the ability to diagnose PLC, motion‑control and CAN‑bus issues.
• Willingness to be away from home for an average of 100 nights per year, primarily weekdays.
