Electrical Shift Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer to join a leading industrial operation in Coleford. Working on a 4‑on/4‑off days & nights pattern, you will provide comprehensive electrical maintenance and breakdown support to keep the mill running at optimal availability.

Key responsibilities

• Identify failure modes of plant equipment and restore operation safely and promptly.
• Diagnose and repair electrical breakdowns, including motor brush replacement and fault rectification.
• Liaise with day‑time engineering teams to resolve long‑term issues.
• Complete shift reports, SAP notifications and inspection documentation.
• Locate, issue and return spare parts using the CMMS.
• Develop recommendations to prevent recurring failures.
• Execute preventive maintenance routines on motors, drives and control systems.

Required profile

• Formal technical qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Good knowledge of the 17th Edition IEE Regulations.
• Experience with motor control, instrumentation, PLCs and modern drive systems in a continuous process environment.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation for industrial settings.
• Strong analytical ability and clear written/oral communication.
• Computer literate with practical experience of CMMS (SAP).
